Paneer Peda (Cottage Cheese Fudge)

Paneer is loaded with proteins, minerals and calcium which is also good for bones and teeth. I wanted to make something special for my son yesterday. Hence decided to make these delicious paneer pedas. Paneer peda is a very easy and simple recipe to make. These pedas are so soft and melt in the mouth type. Definitely a worth-trying recipe. Hope you all like it.

Ingredients:-
  • 200 gms paneer / cottage cheese (grated)
  • 100 gms khoya / whole dry milk (grated)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ¼ cup milk powder
  • 2 tbsp ghee / clarified butter
  • 1 tbsp maida / all purpose flour
  • ½ tsp cardamom powder
  • few sliced pistachios for garnishing
Method:-
  • Heat ghee in a pan.
  • Add paneer and saute on slow flame for  aminute.
  • Add khoya, milk and milk powder.
  • Mix well stirring continuously.
  • Add sugar, maida and cardamom powder.
  • Stir on slow flame till the mixture thickens and leaves the sides of the pan.
  • Allow to cool.
  • Grease your hands with little ghee.
  • Take a tbsp of mixture and make a ball.
  • Now press it slightly to give the shape of a peda.
  • Serve garnished with sliced pistachios.
Notes:-
  • You may add any food color or flavorings of your choice and make into your desired shapes.
  • You may garnish the pedas with a fried cashew on each or raisins too.
  • You may use ½ cup condensed milk instead of sugar.
Happy Cooking!!

    1. Ohh.. That's really bad.. You can always add more milk powder / condensed milk instead of khoya.. If you get kalakand sweet in Indian sweet shops.. It too works as a best alternative to khoya.. I know Humi.. Indian sweets are always welcoming.. Thanks a lot for your encouraging words dear :-)

I have never tried a dessert with paneer, it has always been some form of sabzi or bhurji. This is a nice change to the mundane recipes!!
