My sisters brought me lots of dates for Ramadan which were sitting in my pantry. I was wondering how to use them, when hubby dear advised me to make dates halwa. Dates are a good source of iron, potassium, fiber and calcium.Having dates definitely makes one feel energetic, no matter how tired they are. Dates are naturally very high in sugar, hence no additional sugar content should be added in this recipe. This is a very simple quick and healthy halwa. I personally loved this halwa a lot. My hubby and son also appreciated it and gave me very positive comments which surely made my day.
Ingredients:-
Method:-Ingredients:-
- 1 cup dates (pitted and chopped)
- 200 gms khoya (grated)
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp finely chopped nuts
- 1 tsp ghee / clarified butter
- a pinch of cardamom pdr
- a pinch of fennel pdr / saunf
- milk (enough for soaking)
- Soak chopped dates in just enough milk for 5-10 minutes.
- Grind to smooth paste.
- Heat a pan and add the dates paste and keep on stirring.
- When the moisture dries, add khoya, honey, cardamom pdr, fennel pdr, nuts and ghee.
- Keep stirring well till the halwa leaves the sides of the pan.
- Serve hot or cold as per your liking.
Notes:-
- You may avoid milk and soak in water if you want. But then remember to drain the excess water before grinding.
Happy Cooking!!
