Crispy Dal Vada

Dal vada mainly refers to lentil fritters seasoned with onions and spices usually eaten as a snack or an appetizer. They are crispy on the outside and soft inside.

Ingredients :-
  • 1 cup chana dal
  • 1 tbsp urad dal
  • 1 tbsp moong dal
  • 2 onions (finely chopped)
  • few coriander leaves (finely chopped)
  • 2 green chillies (finely chopped)
  • 4-5 curry leaves (finely chopped)
  • 1 pinch baking soda
  • salt to taste
  • oil for frying

Method :-

  • Soak the chana dal, urad dal and moong dal for 4-5 hours.
  • Drain water thoroughly from the dal and grind it coarsely.
  • Mix in baking soda, salt, onions, coriander leaves, curry leaves and green chillies.
  • Heat oil in a wok.
  • Make small round balls and flatten them a little.
  • Fry on medium flame till golden brown.
  • Serve with chutney of your choice.
 Notes:-
  • You may also use tuar dal instead of chana dal.
  • Do not add water while grinding the dals.
  • You may also add red chilly pdr if you like it a bit spicy.
Happy Cooking!!
